The recognition just keeps on coming! Matej Vydra claimed a hat-trick of awards at Derby County’s End of Season Awards Dinner, sponsored by McAndrew Utilities, on Tuesday evening.


Named in the EFL Sky Bet Championship Team of the Season and PFA Championship Team of the Season, the 26-year-old picked up the Highest Goalscorer, Players’ Player of the Year and Jack Stamps Player of the Year awards at the annual ceremony at Pride Park Stadium.

The event itself was attended by club officials, sponsors and supporters.

Youngster Luke Thomas picked up the Sammy Crooks Young Player of the Year Award after a year in which he has stepped up from the Under-23s to become the latest player to feature for the Rams’ first team and become a permanent figure in their squad.

The Goal of the Season Award was lifted by Sam Winnall following a text vote by supporters, which saw his sensational hit against Ipswich Town coming out on top.

Goalkeeper Scott Carson picked up the Save of the Year for his instinctive stop against Middlesbrough back in February.

After impressing from the Under-23s and stepping up to the first team picture, Jayden Bogle claimed the Scholar of the Year award, whilst Louie Sibley was named as Academy Player of the Year award after a breakthrough year, which saw the 16-year-old which saw him step up to Darren Wassall’s Under-23s squad.

After being named Community Club of the Year, Head of Community Simon Carnall claimed the Brian Clough Award, whilst Phyl Barron and Sue Warren received the Special Recognition Award for their outstanding work in the Bistro at the Training Centre in partnership with the University of Derby.
