Craig Forsyth is looking forward to Derby County welcoming Fulham with their dominant attack that has been galvanised in recent weeks on Friday night at Pride Park Stadium.

The Rams clinched the final Sky Bet Championship play-off spot with an inspired 4-1 win over Barnsley on the last day of the season, on Sunday.

Gary Rowett’s team solidified their chance of a top-six finish in the penultimate week by stringing together a set of crucial results in possibly their toughest week of their season against Cardiff City and Aston Villa.

Now, Derby’s road to Wembley will go via Fulham in the semi-final with the first stop at Pride Park Stadium on Friday night before heading to Craven Cottage on Monday, both matches with a 7:45pm kick-off.

Forsyth is hoping the Rams’ momentum will continue to build through the two legs while also taking advantage of a dejected Cottagers side who saw their hopes of automatic promotion slip away with a 3-1 defeat to Birmingham City.

“It’s definitely one to look forward to, and it’s important that we take this good run we have been on into Friday,” Forsyth told RamsTV following the victory over Barnsley.

“It will be an interesting one, obviously they will be massively disappointed with Sunday’s result and what’s happened. We are really looking forward to it and we need to take the game to them.”

Derby has seen their strikers come in to form just at the right time, most noticeably Cameron Jerome, who has flourished scoring four goals in three games.

Matej Vydra also continued his fine form, scoring his 21st league goal of the season on Sunday to lift the Sky Bet Championship Golden Boot.

Forsyth had high praise for Vydra, who he has known since the 2012/13 when the pair were at Watford together.

He added: “He has [had a great season], he is hard on himself at times but when he takes his chances, and he gets plenty of them, he is lethal in front of the goal.”
