Derby County starlet Jason Knight’s form throughout 2017 was recognised by the FAI on Sunday night as he was named as the Republic of Ireland’s Under-16 International Player of the Year.
The midfielder has enjoyed a superb season so far, and he’s been rewarded after becoming a key player for Ireland at two age groups over the past year.
He starred at the UEFA Under-16 Development Tournament in May 2017, as Ireland beat Northern Ireland and Kosovo before falling to a narrow defeat against Denmark.
Currently, Knight is on international duty as he looks to help his nation qualify for the UEFA European Under-17 Championship, which will be hosted by England in May this year.
At club level, he has recently broke into Darren Wassall’s Under-23 squad, and he started against Manchester City at Pride Park Stadium earlier this month.
Back in November, Knight showcased his ability against City for the Under-18s with an absolute screamer in a 2-0 win for Justin Walker and Rory Delap’s side.
