Getting back to winning ways is Derby County’s challenge this weekend when they take on Burton Albion in the second home game in four days.
The Rams will also be looking to cement their position in the top six and ahead of the visit of the Brewers, dcfc.co.uk has collated all the information you need ahead of Derby’s second league ever meeting at Pride Park Stadium with the Brewers.
WHAT’S THE LATEST TEAM NEWS
Gary Rowett has a clean bill of health to choose from ahead of Derby’s clash with the Brewers.
Both Bradley Johnson and Sam Winnall have returned from their respective hamstring and ankle injuries and will be in contention for a place in the matchday squad.
On another note, Jason Shackell, Mason Bennett and Darren Bent will all step up their bid for first team football, with all three looking likely to feature in tonight’s Under-23 Premier League Cup fixture against Middlesbrough.
WHAT THE BOSS HAD TO SAY?
Rowett told RamsTV: “Burton will come here and make it very difficult for us, they’ve done well away from home this season, people forget that.
“They’ll be scrapping for their lives, so we’ll respect that, it’s a sign of respect to our team and the ability that we’ve got, that they want to limit our space and we have to find a different and better way to break teams down.
“You have to be patient, sometimes you have to pass backwards, that’s just the way when you’re trying to look for openings.
“We’ve just got to make sure that we hold our nerve regardless of the scoreline, we need to make the right decisions as the game goes on.”
ONE TO WATCH
An integral part of Burton meteoric rise though the league system, Lucas Akins has been an integral part of the Brewer’s success since joining in 2014.
With the ability to play on the wing or as a central striker, Akins has played for Burton over 100 times and has found the back of the net on 29 occasions in all competitions.
A product of the Huddersfield Town Academy, the tricky forward has also played for Hamilton Academical, Tranmere Rovers and Stevenage on a permanent basis.
With 22 appearances already this season in all competitions, Akins is a player highly-rated by Nigel Clough and is one to watch out for when the Rams take on the Brewers this weekend.
