Derby County’s Under-18s return to Premier League – North action on Saturday as they face a home clash against league leaders Manchester City, kick-off 12pm.

The Rams are unbeaten in their last nine matches in all competitions in a run stretching back to September.

Six league games have been played in that time, and that impressive form has seen them settle in the upper reaches of the table ahead of this weekend.

Last time out, Justin Walker’s and Rory Delap’s side produced a determined performance to beat a strong Everton team 1-0 in the Premier League Cup and finish their fixtures in the competition with a win and two draws.

Jayden Mitchell-Lawson’s second-half penalty was enough for his side to win, but strong defensive shape and resilience at the back would also be important in seeing them triumph on the day.

The Rams currently sit fifth on 17 points in the Premier League – North table following consecutive draws against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United.

Saturday’s opponents Manchester City are top of the league, with their most recent match away to Liverpool ending in a 1-1 draw.

An intriguing match-up awaits at the weekend, with both the Rams and City having strong defensive records this season and having only lost one league game so far.

Derby have put in some impressive team displays this campaign, with bosses Delap and Walker being particularly encouraged by the character shown in the recent clashes with Wolves, Newcastle and Everton.

Going into their upcoming fixture, the team are sure to be up for the challenge and will be looking to gain another positive result before Wednesday evening’s FA Youth Cup tie against Manchester United at Pride Park.
