As expected, Gary Rowett has made a number of changes to his starting XI for this evening’s Carabao Cup First Round meeting at Grimsby Town, kick-off: 7:45pm.
Eight have been made in total to the team that began the 1-1 draw at Sunderland last Friday night, with only Richard Keogh, Jacob Butterfield and Johnny Russell keeping their places.
There appears to be a switch in formation too, with the Rams moving from a 4-3-3 shape to a 4-2-3-1 against the Mariners at Blundell Park.
Jonathan Mitchell, who last week signed a new four-year contract with the club, starts in place of Scott Carson.
Three further changes come in defence as Chris Baird, Alex Pearce and Marcus Olsson come in to replace Andre Wisdom, Curtis Davies and Craig Forsyth respectively.
Jamie Hanson pulls on the Derby shirt for the first time in a competitive fixture since January and he partners Butterfield in the middle of the park.
Mason Bennett and Ikechi Anya line-up on the flanks – either side of Johnny Russell – whilst David Nugent leads the Derby attack.
Rowett, the Derby manager, has also called up three Academy players to the matchday squad too.
Under-23 duo Kellan Gordon and Timi Max Elsnik, as well as first-year scholar Max Bird have all been named amongst the substitutes.
