Gary Rowett has confirmed that Derby County striker Darren Bent is set for a spell out of action.
The 33-year-old frontman sustained a hamstring injury during Tuesday’s pre-season 1-0 friendly victory at Port Vale.
Rowett has revealed that Bent could be out of action until towards the end of the calendar year.
He told RamsTV’s Matchday Live show: “Darren went for a scan and to see a specialist in London after getting injured on Tuesday at Port Vale.
“It’s not great news for him and he’s probably going to be out until around Christmas time; so that’s a bit of a blow.
“He had looked sharp in the games so far but it’s something we will just have to deal with.”
Bent has made 84 appearances since joining Derby from Aston Villa in January 2015 and scored 28 goals.
