The Derby County Former Players' Association held their annual Christmas Gala Dinner at Pride Park Stadium on Thursday evening.

The yearly event sees a number of former Rams, from across various eras in the club’s long and illustrious history, come together to get in the mood for the festive season.

This year’s event saw Steve Powell claim the Merit Award, which he received from President & Chief Executive Sam Rush and Club Ambassador Roy McFarland.

The Merit Award celebrates the achievements and contribution to Derby County of an individual former player.

Derby-born Powell, who is now 61, made over 400 appearances for the club between 1971 and 1985.

The midfielder made his debut at the age of just 16 under Brian Clough and was a part of the First Division title-winning squads of 1971/72 and 1974/75, in addition to the 1972 Texaco Cup and the 1975 Charity Shield successes.

Powell retired in 1985 after over 14 years in a Derby shirt.
