Tyson On Target As Derby Are Held To Opening Day Draw
Pictured here is former Derby County striker Nathan Tyson scoring the Rams’ first goal of the 2012/13 Sky Bet Championship season against Sheffield Wednesday in August 2012.
Derby were held to a 2-2 draw by the Owls at Pride Park Stadium, despite storming into a two-goal lead early on.
Tyson slotted in the Rams' first from Jamie Ward's centre while defender Jake Buxton stooped low to head in a Paul Coutts cross to make it 2-0.
Against the run of play, however, Chris O'Grady fired into the top corner from the edge of the area to reduce the deficit.
Then, with time running out, Reda Johnson equalised for the visitors from close range as the points were shared.
Tyson made 41 appearances for Derby in total, scoring on five occasions, between August 2011 and September 2013 after signing from Nottingham Forest.
The 2012/13 campaign, under the management of Nigel Clough, saw Derby finish in 10th place in the Championship table.
